Samantha's first trip to California

The week before I returned to work, we were
able to take a long visit to California to visit
our family in California. After a quick trip to the
big dinosaurs on the way to LA, we were able to
spend time with Grandma Joanne and Grandpa
Nico. Although work schedules did not allow a
lot of time, I know Samantha and her parents
enjoyed the time with los Abuelos Fuentes! We
were also able to spend time with Grandpa
Manuel and Grandma Yolanda (as well as Lina
and uncle Phil). After arriving at both homes, Anthony
and I did not get to hold our little bundle very much,
as certain family members were enjoying their time
with her. Samantha was able to go to her first football
game (Sorry Rudy did not get his two sacks :) ). Sam
also attended her first Romero family reunion. More
from the reunion to come later.

Dinner with old friends - We got to spend an evening
at Downtown Disney with some old friends from college
(Jen and Joe Evano) and their beautiful daughter, Emily. I
would be remiss if I did not share the funny story from the
evening. If the two babies did not already share enough history
(being the offspring of William Penn athletes, being born in 2008,
having amazing parents, probably the future embarrassment at
athletic events) both girls decided to share something else at dinner.
Anthony was burping Samantha and after some good respiratory
exercise, Jen kindly pointed out that Samantha had a blowout and
her clothes as well as Anthony's arm were covered in Samantha's poop.
As Anthony, yes Anthony, took Sam to get her cleaned up, the rest of the
table joked about the event. Not even five minutes later, Joe picked up
Emily from her car seat and she had decided she did not want to be shown
up by Samantha and promptly had her own blow out. It's such a long way
from our evenings out together in college.

Romero Family Reunion - Samantha was
able to meet some of her extended family at
the Romero Family Reunion. Although she could
enjoy the taco stand and yummy treats, Anthony
and I surely did, in fact, I believe Anthony finished
off like15 tacos or some outrageuos number.

Big surprise- we are not holding our daughter :)
Lesson learned at the reunion (everyone else
wants to hold your baby, especially Lina)

At the hospital

I know these pictures are just about a month old,
but I wanted to talk about all the family and friends
who were at the hospital with us to support us and
welcome Samantha into the world. Grandma and
grandpa Ellis were at the hospital from 5:00 a.m.
friday morning until after Samantha was born.
Big time troopers! Grandma Joanna, grandma
Yolando, Grandpa Manuel, and Cousin Lina all
came in from California and stayed at the hospital
overnight with us. We did not get pictures of
everyone who was there with the baby, but Samantha
knows who was there with her. :) Although the labor
was not exactly as I planned, the end result was better
than Anthony and I could have asked for. I want to thank
Anthony for all his support and help in the delivery room
and the 28 hours we spent at the hospital before Sam was
born and the two days we spent after she was born.

A visit with Connor

We recently had a visit from my brother Chris, sister in law Lindsay and nephew Connor. Connor has grown so much since the Ellis family moved to Colorado and we were excited to see all three of them. Chris and Lindsay have done a wonderful job raising Connor and he has become a bundle of energy and giggles. I can not wait until Samantha is Connor's age where we can see her personality and hear her first words, her likes and dislikes. Anthony and I were able to enjoy a morning of golf with Chris, where Anthony destroyed any confidence my brother and I had in our golf game. We also got to enjoy watching Connor at Peter Piper Pizza and at a Diamondbacks game. We were sad to see them go back to Colorado and hope to see them again real soon.
